After purchasing a new big house, most of the people think of
creating a big lawn around the house as lawns put in attractiveness to
new house. It also helps in getting more value of your house, if your
house is surrounded by beautiful lawn. No doubt, you need to maintain
it very well so that buyers can be attracted towards it. Not all lawns
are formed equally, depending the grass, lawns are of different types.
One can place varieties of grass in their lawn or can decide the
particular grass to grow. Many types of lawn grass are present in the
market; one can be decide the variety of grass to grow as per their
climatic conditions and area surrounded the house.
Thousands of varieties are present of lawn grass; every grass has
its defined temperature, tolerance level of sunlight and shade and
precipitation conditions. The breeders continuously create new and
advance species of lawn grass. Grasses are basically divided into two
categories i.e. warm season grass and cool season grass. Some grasses
grow in cool or mild seasons; they are often called as cool season
grasses. The growth starts at 5 C and at temperature if 10 to 15 C,
it grows at faster rates. In cool and mild summers and in autumn and
spring season, grasses grow at rapid rate. In extreme cold conditions,
grasses preserve their better color and they intensely grow, it seems
to be a green carpet lawn. Some examples of cool season grasses are
bent grass, blue grass, rye grasses, fescues etc.
Temperature of above 10 C is needed for to start the growth of
warm season grass, growth at rapid rate is noted at temperature of 25
to 35 C. some of the warm grasses are as follows- Bermuda grass,
St. Augustine grass, bahia grass, centipede grass, zoysia grass,
carpet grass, buffalo grass and grama grass. Warm season grasses can
tolerate the lack of water and can even sustain in higher summer
temperature. But thing to be noted is that most of the southern warm
grasses cannot sustain in cool temperatures such as below -14C while
Northern grasses such as blue grama and buffalo grass can stand up to
-45C.
Let us go with warm season grass, starting with bahia grass- it is
one of the types of lawn grass. Maintenance and mowing require of this
grass is of medium level. It does not require much of time and efforts
to maintain and mow it. Added advantage is in comparison to other
grasses, the chances for bahia grass to get infected by diseases and
insects are very low. Next grass is Bermuda grass, it also requires
low maintenance and less mowing. You can easily grow them in your lawn
with help of its seeds. At last, coming to carpet grass- usually this
grass's color is medium or light green, it requires less maintenance
and above all, it is very thick grown.
Thus, above stated discussion holds little much knowledge about the
types of lawn grass; you can get more information about the lawn grass
on Internet.
